I CAN'T FIND IT IN THE REGISTER OF DEEDS, WHERE NEXT?
-
Not all records are in the Register of Deeds office. The Clerk of the District
court will have court, probate, and divorce records. Kansas Department of Vital
Statistics has birth, marriage, and death records. The Jefferson County
Historical Society and Research Center may be helpful in doing genealogy
research.
HOW FAR DO OUR RECORDS GO BACK?
-
The Register of Deeds of f ice (known in some states as the Recorder's of f
ice) of ten goes back to pre-statehood. Our records here in Jefferson County,
Kansas date back to the mid 1800's
